Lamayuru Chilling Trek

The Lamayuru Chilling Trek often entices Buddhist pilgrims from different corners of the world. It splits from the rugged tracks to the beautiful Lamayuru Monastery, which is said to be one of the oldest monasteries, built in the 10th century and passing through remote hamlets like Shilla, Phenjilla, Hinju and Sumda Chenmo to Chilling.

Day 01: Arrive

Arrive Leh and transfer to the Hotel. Day at leisure. Overnight at Hotel. 

Day 02:

Sightseeing of Indus Valley . Overnight at Hotel. 

Day 03:

Drive to Lamayuru from Leh. Overnight at Camp. 

Day 04: Lamayuru-Wanlah: Walking Time 3-5 hrs.

Lamyuru at 3420 is situated at Leh-Kargil route. Gradual ascent to Prinkiti La 3750m. A less maintained but very old monastery is there which requires a entry fee.

Day 05: Wanlah-Hinju: Walking Time 4-5 hrs

Wanlah at 3250m and it requires gradaual ascent to Phanjila 3410m. HInju village is named after Hinju valley and is situated at 3720m.

Day 06: Rest Day ( High Pass )

Day 07: Hinju-Konze la: Walking Time 6-7 hrs

First gradual and then steeper for 200m to cross Konze La 4950m. Descening is bit steep though loose moraine. 

Day 08: Sumdo Chinmu-Base of Dung Dung La: Walking Time 3-4 hrs

Sumdo Chinmu at 4300m has a samll monstery which not many people have known. Trail winds to valley floor 4250m and then steep ascending for high ridge 4430m.

Day 9: Dung Dung La-Chilling: Walking Time 6 hrs

It is not tough to negotiate 4820m of Dung Dung La and then gradual descending to Chilling 3350m . From La one can see large Himalayan Range of Zhanskar with many towering peaks. Drive back to Leh.

Day 10 : Leh - Delhi

Transfer in time to the airport to connect onwards flight.
